Pickens Plan only viable energy option
The Pickens Plan is the only proposal on the table which will lower our dependence on foreign oil by up to 50 percent over the next ten years. Your participation and support are being requested via internet enrollment. This plan calls for us to use our abundant natural gas resources and to add wind electricity to our expectations. President-Elect Barack Obama has said “And for the sake of our economy, our security, and the future of our planet, I will set a clear goal as president; In ten years we will finally end our dependence on oil from the Middle East”. Each of you reading this letter has the opportunity to demonstrate your support for these achievable objectives. Twenty two percent of our electricity we use comes from natural gas. The US Department of Energy did a study showing that 20 percent of our electrical needs could be generated from wind energy in the “wind corridor” stretching from northern Texas to the Canadian border. Building these utility scale windmills will free up natural gas to be used instead of diesel to power over-the-road trucks. Large corporations studied the cost to convert for their 2009 budgets and will likely support the changes.
As a volunteer in the Pickens Plan, I am encouraging everyone with Internet access to go to the website and learn more about these exciting and optimistic developments. It is critical for the change to be supported by our elected representatives. The most efficient way to persuade our elected officials on the issue of United States energy independence plans is to sign in and join the Pickens Plan Group for your Congressional District.
