On Saturday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m., Glenn Harper, architectural historian and preservation manager for the Ohio Historical Society, will present “Be Present and Receive Your Park: John Patterson, Hills and Dales Park and the Olmsted Aesthetic” at the Huffman Prairie Flying Field Interpretive Center, located across from Wright Brothers Memorial Hill, 2380 Memorial Road, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, 45433 (close to the intersection of State Route 444 and Kauffman Road).
Harper will focus on NCR co-founder John H. Patterson’s vision for the city and his twenty-five year relationship with the Olmsted Brothers, a legacy that continues in the Dayton region today.

On Sunday, Oct. 4, friends of Lewis Chapman, who is currently battling MS, will hold a golf outing in his honor at Sugar Isle Golf Club in New Carlisle. Lewis recently had a vascular surgery performed at Stanford University. Doctors are hopeful that this procedure can stop the MS from progressing.

Saturdays, September 5 – October 31 (no class on September 26), 9:30 a.m. - Noon, Instructor: Sandi Sharp
Fee: $130 members, $145 non-members. Participants supply their own materials.
Learn to draw the human figure from direct observation of male and female models. Students will develop foundational skills while learning to compose drawings that express their own personal style. This class is open to both beginner and advanced students.

Learn to represent the human form using a variety of materials. During this course students will focus on creative expression as they develop new ways of using and combining materials while observing male and female models.
Students must supply their own materials and are encouraged to bring a variety of different materials to class, such as pen, pencils, ink, crayon, paint, pastels, collage materials, etc. This class is open to both beginner and advanced students.
Join artist Katy Nelson and experience the fun of working with clay. Students will draw inspiration from artwork seen in the exhibition HELLO WORLD! to make decorative clay projects using hand building techniques, including slab, coils and modeling, and explore alternative surface and glaze techniques to complete each piece. All levels of experience are welcome!
