The Oakwood’s Got Talent committee has extended the registration deadline until Saturday, July 5 at 5 p.m. Whether you sing, dance, act or have some other incredible talent, you’ll want to be a part of this wonderful talent show and compete for cash prizes ($1,500 prize purse). The show will be held during the Centennial Closing Celebration on Sunday, Aug.17, 4 p.m., at Mack Hummon Field.

The Little Exchange, a fine gift shop that donates its proceeds to The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton, is conducting it Annual Summer Attic Sale. Remaining fall and winter children’s clothing (infant to 4 T) is marked down 75 percent off. Christmas decorations are marked down to 75 percent off. Selected framed prints, mirrors, lamps, household items, quality watches, purses and picture frames are marked down to 30 percent off the original retail price.
The Little Exchange is located at 45 Park Avenue (off Rte. 48 South/Far Hills Ave.) in Oakwood. Store hours are weekdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the shop is closed on Sunday. In July and August, The Little Exchange will also be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Due to the recent rainy weather conditions experienced over the past couple of weeks, the Grand Opening and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony of the newly renovated Orchardly Park, originally scheduled for Monday evening, June 30, was rescheduled for this past Wednesday, July 2 at 5 p.m. The event took place in the park, located at the corner of Delaine Avenue and Orchard Drive.
The newly renovated park boasts new site furnishings and park landscaping as well as a state-of-the-art water/splash feature, new restroom facilities and new playground equipment, including one play area designed for toddlers up to five years of age and another for children ages 5 to 12.
The park was designed by a local firm, Envision Works. Construction for the project was done by Double Day Construction, Anderson Masonry and Spectra Floors.
The public was invited to attend this community event and to enjoy the newly renovated park.

Participants in the Adult Summer Reading Club can enter weekly prize drawings for each Wright Memorial Public Library book or digital book they read, or audio book they listen to. The Grand Prize will be awarded on Aug. 3.
