Letter to sports parents My name is Scott Herman, varsity softball coach at Oakwood High School. I am extremely interested in putting together a feeder softball program to feed into the junior high and high school softball program. Girls softball is really taking off. The sport has exploded in the last several years. I would like to put together two teams for this coming summer. A 12U and 10U team. We already have several 10U girls and a coach interested. We would play in a league during the week. That would be one or two nights a week. We would play in two or three weekend tournaments during the summer. We will work around your summer schedule. It doesn’t matter, If a female student is a good athlete and is looking to try something new, or if she has or had played T-ball or softball, we are interested. Even if she played at one time and quit and wants to give it another try, we are interested. Sometimes it comes down to what type of coach she had. We will only have coaches that will TEACH the girls how to play this game. Age requirements will go by the age the girls are on Jan. 1 of this year. For 12U, girls must be 11 or 12 on Jan. 1 of this year. So that means if a girl turns 13 anytime after Jan. 1, that is OK; 10U – The girl must be 9 or 10 on Jan.1 of this year; If a girl turns 11 anytime after Jan 1, that is OK also.
