MVH hosting women’s program March 10

“Loving Your Body Inside and Out” is the theme of a special women’s program Miami Valley South Health Center is presenting Tuesday, March 10. The free two-hour program will get under way at 6 p.m. The evening will feature demonstrations, displays and tips from professionals on how to achieve a healthier and happier life.

Several South Dayton organizations have teamed up with Miami Valley South for this event. During the evening, guests can take part in exhibitions conducted by My Pilates Studio and Always Ballroom Dancing.

Spring fashion tips will be offered by Joli Boutique, Kelle’s Boutique and Piece of Style. Stylists and make-up artists from Square One Salon and Spa and Sephora will offer beauty advice. Other events scheduled during the evening include cooking demonstrations and an appearance by world jump rope champion, Shaun Hamilton. A special lecture will also be presented by Michele Wilson, Consulting Manager for Organizational Effectiveness.

High school singing contest slated March 14

Miami-Jacobs Career College is excited to announce their first annual, ‘Rock the Funny Bone- Dayton High School Idol’, a singing competition for Dayton area high school juniors and seniors. Preliminary auditions for the competition will be held on Saturday, March 14, from 10-2 pm, at Miami-Jacobs Dayton campus located downtown. Finals, located at the Dayton Funny Bone at the Greene, will be held on Saturday, March 28, from 2-5 p.m. Prizes will exceed $1,200 in cash and gift certificates!

The purpose of the event is not only to find some of Dayton’s best singers, but to raise money for the charitable organization, Culture Works, and support the Dayton Food Bank by canned food donations. Dayton area high school juniors and seniors are eligible to compete.

Guest judges will include talent agents, local professionals from Art foundations, as well as local music teachers and experts. Drake, from 94.5 Kiss FM will be the guest MC. Tickets to the final event can be purchased from finalists or by calling Miami-Jacobs at 937-461-5174. Seating is limited.

OCC Spring Sports

Sign up now for Spring Sports. Coach Pitch & Tee-ball Clinics, these 2 clinics will teach children the basics of baseball. This organized series is a non-competitive, eight-week long session designed to teach players and their parents the game of baseball. These clinics are co-ed. Kickball is a wonderful way to introduce your child(ren) to organized sports. Kickball is fun, fast moving, and exciting. Registration Deadline is Sunday, March 22, 5 p.m.

Family 2-on-2 Basketball

This Round Robin half court basketball tournament is open to any Oakwood child in 3rd through 6th grade and a related adult (example teams: father/ daughter, aunt/ nephew, etc.) Teams will be split into a boys and girls division. Teams will be place in divisions according to grade level. The adult player must be 18 years of age or older. Registration Deadline is Sunday, March 15, at 5 p.m.
