Presenting the Colors

On Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008 the United States flag was raised at the newly-constructed insurance office of John C. Ferneding & Associates at 5540 Far Hills Avenue by the V.F.W. Color Guard in a formal flag raising ceremony.

Accompanied by Boy Scout Troop 516 and 40-plus on-lookers, the Color Guard presented the colors, played taps, and read from an official protocol script on flag raising. The chill in the air was quickly forgotten by the warm and touching comments about the many sacrifices our men and women in uniform in all of the military branches have made for our freedom.

Traffic changes at Smith School

The city of Oakwood is implementing two additional traffic restrictions at the intersection of Aberdeen Avenue and Shafor Boulevard. The restrictions are being added as a result of a study requested by Smith School parents and are depicted on the attached drawing.  Consistent with the other turning movement restrictions around Smith School, these regulations will be in effect on school days from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and 3 to 3:30 p.m.
